Dovetail, John Fraser’s Michelin-starred eatery on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, has raised the price of its chef’s tasting menu from $125 to $135, a modest 8% hike. The shorter seasonal tasting rose by $75 to $77, a 3% hike. The a la carte menu is still available, with prices ranging from $14-$42. The roasted sirloin with beef cheek lasagna is now $42, a $4 hike from $38. I’ll let chef Fraser explain the set menu changes in his own words:
The cost of wine pairings for the chef’sl tasting remained stable at $90 per person. In fact, Fraser added a Riesling pairing for $80, which offsets the $10 hike (if ordered). And while it’s been a few years since The Price Hike’s last trip to Dovetail, we’ll rate this one a BUY based on our fine experiences at Fraser’s dearly departed What Happens When. That all said, let’s check out the new FINAL COSTreadings (price + 8.875% tax + optional 18% tip) for the Chef’s Tasting:
