30 July 2012: Thomas Keller’s Per Se is offering a $50 wagyu tartare supplement to its $295, nine-course chef’s tasting menu today. This is in addition to the usual $40 foie gras and $75 caviar supplements. Guests opting for all the add-ons will spend up to $460 per person on food, or $920 for two. Wine is extra. As always, all prices are reflective of a service charge. Keep in mind that the Wagyu is $25 more expensive in the a la carte Salon (walk-ins only), while the caviar is $50 more expensive in that room.
As always, our Per Se Today feature is part of our “Most Excellent Menu Contest,” which highlights ways that restaurants can use Tumblr to give guests a better idea of how much money they might actually spend.
On any given day, the price of dinner at Per Se can rise by as much as $315 per person (or $630 for two) over the base menu price, due to optional food supplements. This past Saturday, for example, a couple could have spent up to $1,120 at Per Se, before wine, if they both chose all of the high-priced menu options.
